would anyone be terribly disappointed if post rock stopped? you hit a point with every genre where you wonder when the other shoe is gonna drop and someone finally does something counter intuitive to what has been going on in a genre that has grown stale.
I really liked post rock for a couple years but i feel like i keep going to an amusement park and i ride the same 5 rides and they will never be as fun as the first time i did them. re: cocaine
No offense to this band, as I do have all their albums and like many of you can tell from my past reviews NO i have not listened to any of them. I've even seen them live twice! two times! and i can safely say i have no strong feelings about them or really any feint feelings.
I'm sure they're a great band and I'm not saying they were completely unremarkable or anything like that. I just blame bands like This Will Destroy You and Up Up Down Down ABBA for just kind of fucking the interest right out of me for this genre.
So for the lack of any reasoning I did something I probably shouldn't have I pressed play:
Yeah the song isn't in a hurry and its only 8:49 long, so why would it be? I wonder if its possible for me to love again? Is this it? Am I finally over music? ok wait... I'm 5 minutes into the song and I am having a really good time. Well this is unexpected. Its almost ethereal Godfleshy power groove thing.
3 songs later and I still really like this. Notice I haven't typed anything about it either. All I can really do is knock shit. This is really good. Maybe the genre isn't so dead, or maybe I'm just willing to listen to something for once. This band can make some really different sounds when they want. Its a shame so much talent goes to waste in some post rock band that no one probably cares about. I mean at best they can peak in a MTV score for an episode of teens with babies.

Album is really, really rad. Can't wait to see them at FFF Fest
yeah austin really needed another cool music festival
how boston hasn't gotten one single fucking one going yet is kind of disgusting.
It could be worse. You could live in Athens where they just pretend to have legitimate music scenes and put on "fests" that are pure laughing stocks.
boston just as bad
Sweetness, let me tell you about the national embarrassment that is Detroit
awesome album, i hope these guys can keep the original feel of the first album together.
festivals are way overrated anyway. during the first few years they're amazing, then its just stomping grounds for acts that are too big to come through and clean locals/newcomers out. those vids of torche playing 'thundertown' at sxsw a few years ago are what festivals should be like.
btw the northern va music scene is on par with the worst area for underground music scene on the face of the fucking planet.
First post-rock album I have ever liked in my entire life.
