this is some medieval shit.

so basically i came across this band, obsequiae, because of the invisible oranges interview that just went up the other day. i downloaded this band and i'm listening now and it's like they created the album just for me -- i'm in love. i'm sure you can guess from the cover art that it's all medievally, and it is -- mostly folk metal stuff with clean medieval guitar pieces interspersed. it's intensely melodic, sometimes fast paced, sometimes heavy. amazing.

ok. real facts: this band is made up of only two dudes, one of which is the genius behind another favorite of mine, celestiial. they are from minnesota. they are currently part of the bindrune records roster. they used to be a band called Autumnal Winds [obviously] that put out a bunch of demos that no one listened to. they went on hiatus until 2007, when they changed their name to some shit that doesn't sound all weepy 11th grade.

retardedly highly recommended -- this may be my favorite release this year to date.
download and enjoy.

UPDATE: i contacted bindrune to see when an LP would be available, because i know all of you too are frothing at the mouth to get your hands on this album via a piece of vinyl. they said it would be available early 2012. stoked!
