THE HISTORY OF METAL.

this was a self-initiated project that i thought i'd share here, as a lot of you listen to metal and this may interest you.

it's a history of metal and the metal subculture, paired with cultural and societal history of the last century. the parallel creates a really interesting dynamic, in that it illustrates the specific periods in history that spawned metal and it's different movements. really fascinating stuff. 80 pages.

this writing was taken from the website of the american nihilist undergound society. as we all know, reading anything longer than a paragraph or two on the internet sucks, so i took the text and did a layout with classic typography and some imagery to make it a lot more legible and accessible. you can read it through adobe acrobat, or you can print it out on 8.5 x 11 / A4 paper.
