The wine here is not involved. Here slabs of unbearably heavy sludge-doom rule ...
I'm sure you know about Sangria, crushing doom band from mighty Chile.
Well, Chile’s doom is becoming mandatory due to its heaviness and awesomeness. So many great bands ... Just think about the youngest bands, like Abismo … Killer!
I suppose I may write that Sangria folks are almost “veterans”. In any case they are part of that amazing underground scene together with bands like Electrozombies, Yaiajra, Abismo, Condenados, Ocultum, El Gran Temor and many others.
Not so easy to communicate with the local labels, especially after the very bad earthquake that struck Chile not long after this album had been released. However there has been a bit of interconnection with Spanish labels for distribution.
So thanks a lot to friend Alejandro Ossandon from Abismo, and also from blog Mentes Podridas, for helping the band inspreading around the last album by Sangria, related to Projecto Sepulcro.
Here ara Sangria’s words via Alejandro in his original post:
"Renaces de La Miseria" was conceived in 2009, in a joint work, 100% D.I.Y., between Sangria and Proyecto Sepulcro. Effort, improvement, compromise, fraternity, and over all, BALLS from both parts.
After the CD was sold out, and was re-edited in a small print run, which was distributed from Spain to Europe by the Spanish label Odio Sonoro, we've decided to make available to you all, for first time ever, the CD in digital format, for those have interest in our sound.”
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
The trio (Osvaldo Frías on bass and vocals; Pablo Benavides on drums and Carlos Frías on guitars) make up a sonic wall mixing extremely distorted and downtuned riffs, plodding to almost ritualistic drumming, sludgy torn vocals and alienating psychedelic-drone repetitions. Obvious comparisons can be made with Electric Wizard, Fistula and Corrupted.
Super stuff ...
