Big K.R.I.T. sounds exactly like UGK in both sound and lyrical content and if people are calling them a rip off or whatever than thats fine.I guess. At least they're good. Especially in rap where there is just no fucking originality to begin with, unless you count Earl Sweatshirt. More on them later!

19 tracks is pretty insane for a rap album, big krit manages to make it through the 19 songs with out it seeming like 19 different rap songs lined up like a mix tape. It actually feels like an album, which is something you may or may not want from a rap cd. to me it was perfect because between waka flocka ross wayne drake and gucci mane i'm convinced rappers only aim for 3 real songs per record and a fuck ton of filler. Maybe you'll think its all filler. but to me it was 100% something.

if you like ugk or 8ball and mjg than this is a home run for you. shorty, purple, , swag, all referenced. he misspells words, viktorious, neva go back, so on. this is strong, one man show, makes his own beats out of mississippi. strong shit.





now as for Earl Sweatshirt. what can i really say? its just pretty insane. look at the fucking picture, some girl somewhere is going to have a conniption when she sees what a fucking mocked piece of shit she is.

I love how the whitesox second baseman got in trouble for writing a fellow teammate is gay in the dirt but for some reason rappers can throw the term "faggot" around like its another way of saying they are rich. wakeupfaggot is a really fun interlude and as soon as it turns into the next song you realize that you're having a good time with a rap album that is almost exclusively about killing women and being oddly upset with animals.

if kool keith was somehow less organized and focused and angrier than you'd get Earl Sweatshirt. if cool kids stopped trying to slow their songs down. if kid cudi was good. if cage wasn't insane. if necro wasn't embarrassing, if the gravediggaz didn't die and focus on numetal lyrical concept, if brother lynch hung had a clue on how to write a song anyone wants to hear

i'm above reading about a musical artist before i type 8 paragraphs about them BUT! I googled earl and found out he is a member of OFWGKTA Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. which is my favorite acronym to date. when you read the words you think its just a bad stretch to form a non sequitur word we all read like From A Radical Theory. but then you see that they came up with the word OFWGKTA and you realize that not only did they come up with an insane term that means nothing they did it with no purpose. whatever OFWGKTA is I'm sure its fucking deep and worthy of notice and maybe one day i will google it further as soon as i can stop watching kate upton doing the dougie.



I've gone deep into (for lack of better term) underground rap and thankfully its not all as bad as dead prez and aesop rock rapping about how white people suck and how rap is rappy and hiphop is an ice sculpture and whatever else goes on on those horrificly cyclical albums that really are destined to be forgotten by the time this blog runs out of daily readers. which should happen by august. which is why if you like music especially music that doesn't always show up here you should probably email me or comment here and demand a spot. we have more readers than your blog likely so this is your chance to get a little bit more over.
