so every couple years i refind this gem, yes, refind.
find it a second or third time, you know. re-find.
yuck, what a fuck show this write up is already.
anyways, i love kool keith, spankmaster is on the mount rushmore of rap for me. no he isn't. jesus, fucking god what is this? its been 3 weeks since i've done this and the wheels are falling off and fucking each other on the ground. anyways for those of you who don't know keith then i guess you're not white and not pretending to like rap. keith to me has 3 great releases, this
so yeah, keith has an alter ego on this release, dr octagon, which is ironic because this is probably his best selling release and then he changed his name back to kool keith after, previously being known for a rap groupWHOGIVESASHIT
anyways it'd be like a guy from a band leaving a group releasing his best effort under a different name then changing their name to avoid success. i'm trying really really hard to think of a floor/torche joke here but i pass, i guess i'm really out of it if i can't make a torchefloor joke... odd
keith on this album, becomes dr octagon a "extraterrestrial time traveling gynecologist and surgeon" one who doesn't rhyme or make any real attempt to string together coherent thoughts. i guess this is one of those hybrid albums that connects triphop and alt rap and all other sorts of horse shit music i hate individually but like in this album. the producer of said album is dan the automator, which means nothing to me, ps at this point you might have more luck reading the wikipedia then read my shit interpretation of it. think of it like deltron 3030 version 1.0, as it had the same producer and the whole future science fiction rap concept. and i guess it comes down to a matter of opinion. 99% of the world prefers deltron and i like octagon.
oooooof... a lot of people have heard of this album, i'd say it was polarizing if i knew anyone else's opinion of it, but to be honest like with most rap and with having nelly in my top 10 rappers of all time list i don't really give a shit about other people's opinions about rap, and i refuse to call it hiphop.
so if you like psychedelic music, science fiction, porn, drugs,(jacis wet) and rap then i would get this, i love this fucking album and its been top 5 for me all time rap cds.
2 things:
1 i'm selling my ocean - precambrian lp, i never listen to it and i'd rather have $ over it
2 i need a copy of calexico - convict pool, in mp3 form,
the second is a request and the first is just an announcement, i wouldn't expect any of you to buy it, i'm just bored and talking myself into it. its getting to the point where i have too many records i never listen to, which is upsetting in its definition. sometimes i feel like the bands can't release enough records (except for torche who can't fucking stop)
ahhh... there it is.

I like this a lot but I think Deltron 3030 is far superior. BLUE FLOWAZ!

Hi thats a link for the Calexico Ep.
i like del, but i've always liked this album more, del seems to have the fantasy concept down more but i like the music and themes on this one more
del also never mentioned fucking enough for me.
good point. kool keith blows del outta the water but i just find myself skipping a few tracks on this. Still i cant think of another album where they take audio clips from a porno and have Kid Koala cut it up... very awesome indeed.
its the bill walton of albums, a couple years ruined by injuries but when healthy he had transcendental seasons that can redefine the sport.
one of the healthy seasons would be 76-77 or bear witness
one of the hurt seasons would be 79-80 or technical difficulties.
let me know if you want a hockey, silver surfer, charlamagne, daredevil or jetski comparison too.
I'm going to Dl this, I like KK a great deal. I know nothing whatsoever about current rap.
this came out 14 years ago i think
I used to have the Blue Flowers 12". I say used to have as after djing a house party, the following day i was gathering my records together the following day. My blue flowers was out the sleeve, so i tossed it towards the sleeve. It didn't fall flat but on a vertical angle and snapped. my face went sheet white and something broke in my heart.
A great thing about this album is Q-Bert scratching away on a record which is outside of the self indulgence of the ISP. It made the record sound si futuristic having a dj of such calibre and this was a year before the turntablists started releasing albums which were more than just scratch routines.
Best sample.
"Think of it as something fun wriggling inside of you, like a eel"
"ewww"
"or a catapillar"
"ewww"
"OK, LIKE A COCK!"
Brilliant! Q-Bert goes ballistic!!!
The Return Of Dr Octagon sucked as a album. Aliens was alright. But 'just' alright.
Download this mix for free before it gets removed shortly.
