I think you`re just suffering from `Metal Overload` (a well known medical term)I had it a while ago i was downloading every metal album i could from all these blogs and i just got sick of it.I stopped listening to it, got into other genres (folk,pop,rap,jazz etc) And when i finally returned to it,it felt fresh and vibrant and i fell in love with that naked aggression all over again.Have 6 months away from it and you will love it again.
metal got too mainstream again -- like the 80s. the 90s rolled in and grnge came around & made metal irrelevant, and then the MTV picked it up and that got on rotation. 'punk rock' was next(blecch). so a few years back some truly awesome hard rock & metal outfits started being 'awesome,' and Metal was the new Punk. but then everybody started to care, and the hipsters found it, and then MTV found it again, and you had "metal" videogames & shit, and NBM advertising fried chicken, and lots of bad Affliction t-shirts &c. So for a band to be "metal" and "not a douche," they have to sound like THE CRAZIEST SHIT EVER TO COME OUT OF MORDOR w/ unlistenable vocals, time signatures, throat and hand tattoos, and each song 17 minutes of EPIC DOOOM BLACK KVLT BRUTALITY.
it'll settle back down once the kids get tired of it (and find whatever else it is they will ruin next). give it ten years.
I've taken a while off now.and I'm having my mind blown left and right by other acts. But it just seems every metal band now is just connecting the dots between 2 bands they want to sound like and 1 of the dots is always neurosis/isis/electricwizard.
