heres an album i am legitimately excited about, i know many of you are getting tired of me slagging everything i post so why don't i tongue bathe something for once. and why not start with what could be the best living songwriter/musician.
brian wilson re-imagines Gershwin could be my favorite album of the summer, and i guess it makes perfect sense associating bw with the summer fucker was the heart and soul of the beach boys. he's got a sensational voice and the beach boys have always been one of my favorite musical acts, i've never gotten tired of listening to them and they always seem to either make me unspeakably happy or irreproachably upset.
so then, gershwin as many of you are wondering is a songwriter from the turn of the century to the 30s or something who made a lot of big band music. the gershwin theater and hotel were named after him, and since i'm making up facts he is also the grand father of gina gershon and the green goblin.
anyways homeboy lived to be 38 and i guess back then that was a long time but now adays it seems like a professional wrestler's life expectancy. but having first heard about this album in july i started to look into this guys life and found out he composed some of the best music i've ever heard composed. like big band jazzy stuff with some great singers. sam cooke, diana ross, nina simone, sinatra, ella fitzgerald, billie holiday
any of you who everheard the song "summer time and the living is easy" has heard a song this fucker wrote.
rhapsody in blue is a song you've heard parts of in commercials and movies for years but never known. its phenomenal to listen to and for christs sakes none of you listen to anything from the 20s so give it a shot. the guy has scored a million movies, broadway shows. obviously like the rest of you i fail to really take in this guys impact by any real deep scale but i assume he had as much to do with modern music as the surfer has with the preservation of ego.
arguably the greatest composer of the 20th century + one of the best singer and group harmonizing arrangist =
must listen

Thank you sir.The first thing that hit me when hearing that clip was Tom & Jerry, which is always a good thing. It makes one return to a time of youth and innocence. The nice times before depression and masturbation took over.
I love the Beach Boys so this should be the perfect album for me.
