sorry about the time off, i was on vacation. i will share no experiences from the journey as it is my personal life and i will thank you to stay out of it.
but here's a band i completely fell in love with while on my . Subrosa is some band from somewhere with some broad as a lead singer and more importantly an awesome string section that is the perfect addition to be added to doom sludge. exactly what the genre needed, everything pretty much has been done, it didn't need another interpretation of a bunch of songs already done perfectly, it needed a deconstruction and appraisal of what is important. girl vocals always send me swooning, but this isn't the typical girl vocals that i love, the sad i'm in a sweater under an afghan blanket lets watch movies and forget about our problems denali vocals that have become a staple among too many bands lately, yet always work as a hook to pull me in.
google results shows multiple girls in the band, which if not an indy act or an avi i downloaded off of a porn torrent site tends to disappoint, but I really can't say enough good things about this band. they play really great music that doesn't trail off and be lame.
if pj harvey liked sabbath
if battle of mice wasn't so off putting
i guess this is the band i think people love junius for being that i just don't see in them.
from their website:
PJ Harvey + Kyuss + Appalachian folk + Coven
"Extreme straightforwardness is the name of the game in getting to the primitive center inside all of us that has the most power to overpower."
see?!?! i told you they're girls. i thought of the pj harvey connection by myself so i'd like the credit.
subrosa
loved this shit
