new god is an astronaut

so i've been waiting for a non-shitty webrip and this is a pretty good one. double the size of the webrip going around and 233kps. if this album is any good you'd have to consider this band to be one of the top post-rock instrumental bands of all time. already have 5 quality releases and 3 of them are stellar to me.

broken social scene - forgiveness rock record (2010)

i really really like the first song, a decent enough amount. so yeah thats pretty much my review because what the fuck is the point, the ocean has 1,100+ dls, redsparowes 2k+ and this album won't approach either despite neither of those bands being good enough to play the same venue as this band a week before it.

the ocean stink they suck robot shit and you guys should all fucking know it, redsparowes release a tolerable record for the first time in 3 shitty long winded attempts. GAH!!!

i have a new mattress i'm fucking freezing
hi guys, how are all of you? follow us please it makes jaci happy, that and thick dicks. i have 15 albums to listen to if any of them aren't fucking awful i'll let you guys know

this band is pretty well received yet i still feel like they're overrated, seriously what is going on here? i want to like this band more but they're listed as baroque pop? that sounds like something i'd use as a punchline in a yo mama is so fat joke,

get it? poor dad? baroque? ba-roke? broke? pop? pop meaning dad? baroque pop? broke pop? they can't all be gems guys.

red sparOH NOES

now for those of you who know what is coming save yourself the time and just post "why post something if you think it sucks" in the comments and then the circle can be completed.

with their 3rd or 4th drawn out unimaginative release here is the redsparowes' (who even spell their name pretentiously) "The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies the Answer" now you may ask yourself how unfun of a name is that. and it really is, it is the name of a really unfun album by a band that has less fun.

so i don't know how long ago but the battle of mice/neurosis video guy left and the song titles are extremely less silly, with the exception of "Giving Birth to Imagined Saviors" which would be great if they got into it at all what that even means in the lyrics, but there aren't any. so whatever, i like some instrumental bands with long song titles but not others so fuck all i guess?

so yeah its not a horribly sounding record, and if you've never heard a godisanastronaut release then i'd say by all means enjoy this. but for fucks sake people talk about metal bands releasing the same thing over and over again. i'm convinced rs's are just changing track orders at this point.

chez nordic lad

Mercury Program are one of those bands that gets 1/10th of the credit they deserve, i'm basing that solely on t-shirts i see of said band at my work, which is none.

for me they are a top 5 band of their genre and would be higher if it wasn't for the juggernauts that are mogwai gybe and a silver mt zion. 4 albums now and i only expect more greatness from them. i'm about to drive down to providence now to get drunk with my friend joey then drive back faster and lonelier.

so here it is in 320k, my pick to steal the post-rock album of the year

also i just watched conan the barbarian for the first time in 10 years today, does anyone else think that sunn0)) ripped off their whole gimmick from the doom children?

Dense.

New branding, same antics. A slight return to the old with the same drawn out dense touches of the new. Yet again more EP's, less "complete" full-lengths. Mastered by John Golden - limited edition LP of 2000 comes out the 25th of this month.

note. - My City of Ghosts, Stars and Hours (2009)

think jazzy-postrock with speed riffs.

don't get the name of this album, a city of ghost stars and hours? seems like a mario level. sounds pretty fifi to me.
but for a post rock band this band completely shreds
if you liked "and so i watch you from afar" than you'd love this band
this dude double handed van halen shreds at parts, he probably makes the same stupid face while he does it.

as for an actual review?
i'll pass

but instead let me mock their first track.

its like 3 songs in one track, makes me wonder if they couldn't figure out how to segue between different parts of songs and rather than have a transition they just put in samples of people talking and then start playing again. it would be like a tv show having a commercial break and during it after the commercial you're in a different setting and time(which happens but i'm using it in the context of a song here so lets make it seem like it never happens). except instead of a commercial they use stupid samples that no one could possibly care about. mogwai was the best at using samples, i don't care what gy!be fans say mogwai torched you fifis. fifi by the way always made me laugh, my grandfather said it a lot. it always made me laugh and i think about patton saying it. anyways later in the album theres a good will hunting sample, and that always is a win in my book, i fell for that movie like a stripper would fall for a guy with a pocket full of oc's.

anyways, the downfall to this album like many an album is the fact they insist on having an intro track that does nothing for the album, like everyone needs a 2 minute wind down before their first song begins. why do bands do this? has anyone EVER enjoyed an intro track to an album? do people have favorite intro tracks? who does the best atmospheric din of nothing the best?

they play fucking celine dion talking about katrina samples over their first song, and i've never been so fucking disgusted with speech than listening to her justify the looting that went on. if they put her on this album for any other reason other than to mock her this band is fifi.

good record, great musicianship (no just kiddding i'd never say that word), and overall its something new to listen to if you're into post-rock. 2 listens through i really like it. but to some of you it could just sound like uninspired post-rock with cece deville guest shredding.

Do Make Say Think - The Other Truths (2009)

i worship this band and all its releases. i put them just under gy!be and mogwai and with good reason. at no point do i ever feel like any of these three bands drag a song out unnaturally. everything seems honest and organic and unforced. its almost like they heard the redsparowes and said lets fix everything they did wrong. lets not add 5 minutes to a song just to do it. lets not have a pretentious run on sentence for a song title. lets not just be a mediocre band that would dwell in obscurity if we didn't have a dude from isis in us. granted i like the dude from isis in redsparowes he was great in the gersch which is a highly underrated musical act along with windmills by the ocean

and to me just always seemed likable.

i digress...

4 tracks 8,10,12,12 minutes long of some of the best music you can find. band has 8 releases now and eventually they'll get some of the credit they've deserved for years that other bands that had one good album they will never replicate (hey whats up grails and this will destroy you fans) get undeservedly. i'll never understand how the hype machine works, and what bands are worthy and which bands aren't of being added to such a cannon for douches. after 8 releases now how this band isn't in everyone's top 3 is beyond me, maybe they need an affiliation with neurosis or something to get the bearded messenger bag crowd jocking them.
