SUNN O)))

in honor of planning the slow death of my eardrums by going to see sunn O))) and earth tomorrow at the brooklyn masonic temple [fight me there], i'm doing a sunn O))) megapost. last time i was at the masonic temple i was there to see neurosis. i drank so much i blacked out during the middle of mastodon, and i don't remember seeing neurosis at all. how much do i suck?

i know that most of the people in the world think sunn O))) is boring and stupid. incidentally, if you think anyone could smack the guitar strings and stand around for a while on stage and call it music, then why aren't you doing it? if you feel this way, this post is for you. i implore you to give them another shot. this is the kind of music you need to listen to alone and really really loud, in the dark.

i also used to think they were kind of weird and never really got into them. then one day i read an interview with stephen o'malley where he said that sometimes while they play he goes into a trance and doesn't even remember being up on stage. something about that made me way more interested and i started listening to 00 VOID a lot [which is still my favorite.] i find it really relaxing. i like their older stuff a little bit better than the newer records they've been coming out with just because they're more simple and pared down, but the newer stuff is really good, too.

also, stephen o'malley has the kind of life i can only dream about. he moved to paris, works with an awesome groundbreaking record label, and spends his days recording music, collaborating and designing really weird album art. why can't that be me?

At least I'm well known. I'm going to see these guys twice in GA. Can't wait, to see them.

Show in Athens tonight was incredible. Eagle Twin was a lot better than I expected them to be, and Sunn O))) was mind blowing. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

Which album do I start with? I've heard good things about the White albums.
