floor played europa in brooklyn on saturday.
it was amazing. absolutely amazing.
i've listened to their albums countless times, but seeing them live and having their songs be that bone-shatteringly loud and heavy all up in your ears was tremendous.

fuck.
easily one of the best shows i've been to in probably over a year.

above is them playing iron girl that night, one of my favorite songs of theirs.

so i bought a cassette tape of their s/t that came in a fancy, if kind of silly overkill, dvd case, and with it came a download card. it has a few extra songs on it, as well as pictures of the cassette tape layout. for all the floor nerds out there, it's available here.

i was hammered at the show so i could be wrong about this, but im pretty sure they played a song off of one of their 7"s. arsonaut linked that shit way back on lucid, but i dredged it up. too good to get lost in the swirling annals of the internet.

7" collection - dl.
s/t cassette tape - dl.

I think I may prefer floor to torche actually. thanks for posting this, jaci.

If you didn't, we'd have to garotte you, Adam.

That video footage is from their Atlanta show, not Brooklyn, which would be an excusable oversight whilst typing in your entry, but the fact that you preface it with "one of the best shows I've been to in probably over a year", and follow it up with "one of my favorite songs of theirs" means the error must be pointed out.

That was a long sentence.

Also, enough with the Floor vs. Torche shit, especially if you ignored Floor while they were an active band, part of their allure was just how alien they were in the time that they were producing those old records. It's much easier to digest now, in the wake of contemporary bands who have taken those sounds even further, but back then seeing Floor open for some crap screaming hardcore band was revolutionary.

I'm not saying "you're not allowed to like them", or "I'm older therefore I know what I'm talking about", I'm just saying you can stop comparing the two bands or proclaiming 17 years later that one is better than the other.

They were un-fucking-real. I bought the Figbender 7'" when it came out and that was the 1st time I got to see them.

gray, I went back and forth on floor vs torche. mind you, I wasn't hip enough to see them in '93 or anything like that, but last I checked, I can say whatever the fuck I want and so can everyone else.

if you want to be all holier than thou, by all means, do so. people are going to say things that piss you off, and you're entitled to piss them right back off. have a day.
