SUMMER!

summer is officially here now [at least in the US, where we officially usher in the season by honoring our fallen soldiers, and by 'honoring our fallen soldiers' i mean we all grill a lot of meat and drink enormously.] i'm sunburnt and still mildly hungover so i consider this memorial day weekend a success. hope yours was too.

with no segue at all, here's some music.

most of you probably have this already; but just in case, right? i forgot it was coming out until i read the list of upcoming june releases on invisible orange today and went 'oh shit' and downloaded it.

this is a fantastic summer album. yes, they sang 'lovefool' and died immediately after but this band, i think, is completely underrated. first song is A+ to set as an mp3 alarm in the morning, and their cover of iron man is stellar.

4 days of maryland death fest, drinking entirely too much, hot inside, freezing inside = hangover and an awesome flu.

Cardigans have yet to really do anything wrong in my books. Nina Persson's band with her hubbie Nathan Larson (formerly of former Dischord Records artist Shudder To Think) isn't half-bad either, if the idea of hearing her lend her voice to more Americana/country oriented material appeals to you. Oh yeah, Shudder To Think (I like tangents) - both aforementioned Nathan Larson and Craig Wedren have taken to writing scores to feature films and TV projects since the 1990s, some of which are worthwhile to check out as well. Ha!
